Hello, friends!
Today I will tell you how I made my vintage New Year cards.
Making a vintage postcard with your own hands is not so difficult. But it's not as easy as it seems. Because we create the old from the new.
First, blanks and background. In my case, these are New Year's vintage postcards-tags. The first stage: aging paper. I do it in a well-known way. I crumple the sheet, unfold it and bathe it in a not too strong solution of coffee, dry it and iron it with an iron. Sometimes wet paper tears. But it doesn't matter. We need some old paper, like "found somewhere in the attic."
The base-substrate is cut out of thick paper, our layers of paper with torn edges are superimposed on it. To emphasize the effect of antiquity, shade with ink pads. Yes, I forgot. We have a New Year's card, so we cut out a snowflake, and there too. And on the topmost, main background (the same, shabby, redeemed in coffee and ironed with holes), we apply a stamp.
I don't have a lantern stamp. So I printed it on the printer right on this shabby paper. I was afraid that it would get stuck in the drum, but ... The printer didn’t even say a word against it ... With a foam rubber sponge, I walked in places with white paint, as if sprinkled with plaster ... Or snow?
As a result of all the manipulations, we got this.
But first, the original background. Scary, right? But we are striving for this. We need an antique effect.
And now the most interesting. We find in our bins all sorts of vintage decorations: ivory lace, pearls. Cutting down will also come in handy, scrapers have it in stock. You can, of course, cut out the monograms and scissors if nothing is at hand, and set off with an ink pad. It's New Year's Eve, remember? So the Christmas flowers will do. I made a whole bunch of poinsettias and lightly stained each flower with white paint. I printed out small tags with vintage images of a Christmas tree, a snow maiden, Santa Claus, cut it out and also shaded it. Oh, they'll come in handy.
Here is a bunch of New Year's card decorations I have available. There are many, many more pearls, but I forgot to photograph them.
Fantasy played out, picturesquely laid lace, tied a bow, pasted pearls. Our postcards are ready, but something is missing. Holidays, right? Vintage, of course, does not provide for any halo effects, but we have a New Year, remember? Give us a holiday!
And then to help me glitters and ordinary semolina. Someone, of course, uses all sorts of expensive sprays, but someday it will come to this. In the meantime ... sparkle without sprays. Replace expensive spray with dry nail glitter. It consists of the smallest particles, and this happiness of different colors and shades is sold in any cosmetics store. I mix different colors, but most of all I like white mother-of-pearl - very effective!
And here are my postcards.
It looks like they were found in my grandmother's chest. Old shabby paper, creamy lace, shimmering pearls - all this reminds us of past times, sweet and irrevocable.
In fact, postcards are made from modern materials. The paper is coffee-aged and rubbed with sandpaper. Torn edges create an imitation of old album pages. The lace is cotton and certainly ivory. Black and white print on shabby paper - a lonely old lantern in the snow. To create a New Year's mood, the card is decorated with pearls and die-cut elements, powdered with artificial snow and shining glitter. In the light of an ordinary light bulb, it plays beautifully and shimmers.
At first glance, all postcards are the same. In fact, each has its own zest.
Further photo. Look for the difference.
