love spells

A wedding is a very eventful day, so even making every effort to keep the wedding dress in its purest form is extremely difficult to do. Today it is rare for anyone to keep Wedding Dress life, usually it is sold or rented. In order for the next bride to feel like the queen of the holiday, the dress must look perfect, without any traces of wear.

How to get rid of stains?

Not a single wedding can do without a magnificent feast, so traces of wine or even greasy stains very often remain on a wedding dress. A wedding bouquet can leave a trail of petals or pollen as a keepsake, and after a photo session on the grass, even if the weather was sunny on the wedding day, traces of dirt and grass will undoubtedly remain. The ideal option for the so-called “revitalization” of the dress will be dry cleaning services, but if you can’t use them, you can use the following improvised means:

  • You can get rid of sweat stains with a strong saline solution. In this case, attention should be paid to the smallest salt crystals being completely dissolved. Otherwise, there may be hooks on the delicate fabric or thin lace may tear.
  • wine stains are easily removed with soapy water. Lightly wipe the stained area with a soft sponge, and the water will easily remove unwanted dirt.
  • green grass stains - diluted in warm water will help get rid of them ammonia- pour this solution on the stain and leave to dry completely. After that, treat the place of contamination with laundry soap, and rinse the product thoroughly. This will help get rid of the stain.

Wedding dress washing

Today, on the shelves of specialized stores, it is easy to find detergents for washing products from any, even the most delicate fabrics. When choosing the right one, remember that ordinary bleach for a wedding dress will become extremely inappropriate - its use, if it does not harm the delicate material, will make the color of the dress gray or yellow. The former crystal whiteness, characteristic of the vast majority of wedding dresses, is unlikely to return after using whiteness with a chlorine content. If on your wedding day you opted for an outfit made of colored fabrics, then after using such bleaches they will be discolored.

Procedure for washing a wedding dress:

  1. The temperature of the water for washing should not exceed 40 degrees. Otherwise, the fabric may shrink or stretch, and return the product to its previous appearance fail.
  2. Washing is most convenient in a bathtub or basin large sizes. It is optimal to dial a third of the volume so that the dress is completely covered with water.
  3. A soft new sponge should be used, which must be dipped in a pre-prepared soapy solution. Thus, the corset of the dress should be processed first, then the hem.
  4. Leave the treated dress in the soap solution for a while, preferably at least an hour. After rinsing several times until the moment when the water from the dress becomes clean and transparent.
  5. It is necessary to dry the wedding dress on a horizontal surface to avoid fabric deformation.

It is important to know - when washing a wedding dress, it is strictly forbidden to dissolve washing powder in water after immersing the product in water. So the components of the powder cannot dissolve completely, and the dress can be hopelessly damaged due to uneven concentration.

Any product always has manufacturer's recommendations for care, which are compiled depending on the materials from which it is made. And a wedding dress is no exception, so before you start washing, you should figure out what materials were used when sewing. Usually in such dresses a combination of several fabrics is used, so the hostess should choose the most best option, which will not harm the memorable outfit.

Another important point is that if the dress looks neat enough, and to fully restore its external qualities, it is enough to eliminate local pollution, you can not wash the product completely. It is enough to get rid of places of pollution, but all without exception, even if the stains are not visible. Moreover, if the dress is predominantly made of satin fabrics, then you will probably have to wash it completely - otherwise, conspicuous stains will remain on it.

In addition, you should be very careful about the recommendation to unpick all the decorative elements of the dress before washing in order to avoid their deformation. This should be done as carefully as possible so that there are no marks left on the delicate expensive fabric. If you do not have enough experience in this matter, it is better to seek the help of a professional. In addition, you can use a trick - in order not to sew all the decorations again after, it is enough to sew them up with a bandage or gauze - so all the existing contamination in these places will go away, and the patterns will remain undamaged.

After you have made sure that there is no dirt left on the dress and all the stains have gone, you should rinse it thoroughly under fresh water. In this case, it is not recommended to twist the dress, because in this case the skirt and corset can be deformed or stretched.

Can the dress be washed in the washing machine?

Most brides adhere to the classic style of wedding dresses, when metal rings are sewn into the skirt. Such a dress cannot be categorically machine washed - you risk ruining not only it, but also the washing machine. In all other cases, of course, you can take a chance, adhering to the manufacturer's recommendations indicated on the label. But if the consequences do not live up to your expectations, there will be no one to make claims against.

If, nevertheless, you decide to take a chance and decide to wash the dress in the machine, you should use the delicate wash mode for this, leaving the rinse function and completely removing the spin cycle. In addition, it is recommended to use special bags for washing such products. They are made of fine mesh, which will resist damage to the material and decorative elements, if any.

Naturally, the wedding dress should be washed separately from other things.

Today, in specialized stores, so-called dry washing powders and stain removers that do not require pre-soaking of the product. It is enough to apply such a product to the place of contamination, and after complete drying, remove the residue with a dry sponge or soft brush. For the most part, such products are quite effective and do not leave stains or streaks after their use. The main thing is to carefully check before use whether it is acceptable to use on the existing type of fabric.

Remember that after all manipulations with the dress are over, even if washing was carried out in a vertical position, it is recommended to dry it on a flat horizontal surface, which will help to avoid deformation of materials. After the dress has dried, it should be steamed using the recommended temperature setting.

If the dress was starched before washing, it is recommended to add a little starch to the water during the last rinse.

Thus, despite all the risks and complexity of washing at home, if all the recommendations are followed, it is possible to return the product to its original appearance without using dry cleaning services.

The procedure is repeated several times, and then rinsed thoroughly.

  1. Wine and champagne stains are not uncommon on wedding dresses.

Ammonia will help to cope with them. The product is applied to a piece of cloth or cotton and covered with a stain, carefully rubbing it from the edge to the center. After half an hour, the contaminated area is washed with warm water and the manipulation is repeated until the stain becomes slightly lighter. After that, a layer of talc or baby powder is poured onto the soiled area and lightly moistened with ammonia. After drying, the powder is brushed off and the cloth is rinsed. Traces of champagne can be easily removed with ordinary mineral water with gas even without the use of detergents.

To do this, the wedding dress is hung on a coat hanger and lowered into a bath filled with warm soapy water. After half an hour, the lower part of the dress should be gently rubbed (from the inside and outside), and then rinsed. If the contamination is strong, a little stain remover for delicate materials is added to the water (note that the substance cannot be applied directly to the fabric).

  1. Yellow spots.

Can be removed by adding detergent oxygen bleach. Chlorine-containing products can exacerbate the problem.

  1. Traces of ink will disappear if you soak them for half an hour with milk, and then wash and rinse the fabric.

Make-up marks are easy to remove with powder and soapy water. Apply a little clear dishwashing liquid to the greasy food stain and then rinse in warm water.

How to wash a wedding dress by hand

After the stains have been removed, the product should be washed completely to refresh the color and remove any possible stains.

Wedding dress made of natural, fine fabrics or richly decorated, it is better to wash by hand.

Do it according to the following scheme:

  • draw 2/3 of water into the bath, temperature 35-45 ° C;
  • add detergent and a little gentle stain remover (if the quality and composition of the material allows), wait until it is completely dissolved;
  • fasten the dress on the shoulders or a mannequin and immerse the hem in water (about one third, maximum half);
  • using a ladle, wet the outfit to the corset and rub with a soft brush or hands;
  • wait half an hour and immerse the dress completely;
  • neatly process the bodice and sleeves;
  • prepare a new soapy solution and wash the dress again.

After all the manipulations, the wedding dress must be rinsed several times in very cold water (you can add ice). If the fabric is colored, you can add 100 grams of vinegar to the bath to refresh the shade.

  • metal elements of jewelry are recommended to be lubricated with glycerin to maintain shine;
  • before loading, you need to carefully fold the dress into a special mesh;
  • the machine is switched on for a manual or delicate wash at a temperature of not more than 40 ° C at a minimum speed. The spin function must be turned off.

After washing is completed, the dress must be rinsed several times to remove the detergent.

The video gives some tips on how to gently wash your wedding dress without damaging it.

How exactly to wash a wedding dress depends on the material from which it is sewn, style and decor:

  1. Satin or silk. The dress is washed completely only by hand at low temperatures.
  2. Synthetics. Such an outfit can be washed with saturated soapy solutions, both by hand and in a typewriter.
  3. Jacquard. Hand wash only soft means without the use of brushes and sponges.
  4. Fatin. Machine washable on delicate setting. When rinsing, starch is used to keep the dress in shape.
  5. Organza and chiffon. A dress made of these materials is washed by hand, slightly squeezing the fabric on both sides.
  6. Dresses decorated with rhinestones are turned inside out before washing or the decor is covered with a thin cloth.

Dresses in plush, taffeta and mixed fabrics or with fluffy skirt it is better to entrust professionals.

Drying and ironing rules

After any washing, the wedding dress cannot be wrung out. It is hung over the bathtub and allowed to drain. When the outfit dries a little, it must be carefully laid out on white towels or fabrics, changing them as they get wet.

The ideal place is a warm room with good ventilation. Direct sunlight should not fall on the outfit, it can make it gray or yellow.

You should not use a hair dryer or dry your wedding dress on a radiator or near a heater - this will make the fabric stiff and may lead to yellow spots.

The process of washing a wedding dress is completed by ironing or steaming. If you skip this step, the outfit will lose its attractive appearance.

You can iron quite dense fabrics (cotton, silk, satin) with an iron.

Action algorithm:

  • cover the ironing board with a clean cloth or put on a fresh cover;
  • hang the dress so that the hem is on the surface;
  • the sole of the iron must be cleaned, it is not necessary to pour water into the device;
  • the mode should correspond to the type of fabric, you need to iron at the lowest possible temperature;
  • the ironing process begins with a train or hem;
  • for sleeves it is necessary to use a special stand;
  • if the outfit is decorated with decor, it is ironed from the inside, and thin material through gauze.

Instead of an iron, it is convenient to use steamers or steam generators. They reduce ironing time and do not leave marks on the fabric. Using the devices is easy:

  • put the dress on a mannequin or hang it on a hanger;
  • turn on the steamer and start processing the outfit from large parts, gradually moving to small ones;
  • leave the dress hanging until completely dry.

A wedding dress made of chiffon, in the absence of a steam generator, can be steamed in the bathroom, filling it with steam from hot water. The washed dress is left hanging for 1-1.5 hours and dried without removing it from the hanger.

After washing and ironing, the wedding dress must be treated with an antistatic agent. After that, the dress can be put away in the closet or put up for sale if the preservation of the wedding dress for posterity is not included in the plans.

A wedding dress can be cleaned at home only if the dirt is slight. Difficult to remove and strong pollution, a dress made of capricious material or a very complex cut is best left to professionals.
