We rip off all the belt loops, leave the buttons.

We sew our impromptu pen with blue or yellow threads (in red it shows how to sew a pen).

We cut out the upper part of the bag ourselves. To do this, measure the entire width of the bag, for example 28 cm and add 2 cm to the seams. We take the length as follows: we divide the length of the bag by 2 + 4 cm. That is, if we have a bag length of 24 cm, then 24: 2 + 4 = 16 cm. We got a part 30/16 cm. We cut it in width, we get 2 details 15/16 cm. Substitute your data and cut.

We fold 2 parts of the top with the front ones inward and sew, stepping back from the upper cut 3.2 cm. The width of the seam is 1 cm on one and the other side.

We turn the resulting seams inward by 0.5 cm. It is not necessary to stitch, you can simply iron it.

With us, as you remember, the unstitched distance to the top was 3.2 cm. We make a fold as shown in the photo. We chip with pins. This is the drawstring - here we will tuck the rope to tighten the top.

Sew along the wrong side close to the folded edge. We remove the pins.

For the convenience of tightening the top - both seams can be slightly torn.

We take a rope (bag width + 18 cm), cut it into 2 parts, and insert both parts of the rope into the drawstring with a pin.

We tie the ends of the ropes with a knot. If the rope is long, tie knots and cut off the excess.

We put the upper part on our lining so that the polka dot top covers the upper part of the lining by 3.8 cm (marked in red in the photo). We chip with pins.

We sew by hand or by machine, stepping back from the cut of the top 1 cm.

We pin off both parts with pins: the lining and the main part of the product.

Hand sewn with hidden stitches. Only the top of the lining should remain on the surface.

And a brief digression into the process of creation.
1. Prepare everything you need: jeans (which are no longer a pity), zippers (I have a long 48 cm, two short ones for pockets of 13 cm each), skin trimmings (for appliqué), slings (for straps, it took me about 3 m), 4 half rings (according to the width of the sling), threads for sewing and stitching, lining fabric, scissors, chalk.
2. We will disassemble the jeans at all seams into separate parts, iron and cut out all the necessary details. It is better to cut out the back and front from those parts that are below the knees - they, as a rule, are less worn and stretched.
3. Sew the halves of the front and back of the backpack (along a long straight line). Do not forget to cut them out correctly - the result should be an arch!
4. We take on the pockets: we sew in the zipper and attach the appliqué using pieces of leather or some other material (preferably with non-shrinking edges). That's where the scope for creativity!
