Damage and evil eye

I decided to knit a sweater with diagonal stripes, I had to master bias knitting knitting needles. The jacket turned out to be bright, eye-catching and warm due to the use of fluffy yarn.

Materials:

yarn Grass (100% polyester, 110 m / 100 gr.) one skein of white, light blue, dark blue and dark blue, Bambino yarn from Kamteks (merino wool 35%, acrylic 65%, 50g / 150m) one skein of white, blue, jeans and dark blue on the shelves and back, 2 skeins of blue on the sleeves, 1 skein of blue on the collar and elastic on the bottom of the jacket, knitting needles 4.0, zipper

Description of work:

Front and back

The front and back are knitted obliquely (diagonally) from two parts each (that turns out four rectangles). The front and back are knitted in two threads: so that Travka yarn does not stretch, she added Bambino yarn of the corresponding color to it. I made a strip of each color 3 cm wide.

Knitting on a bias is not difficult, you just need to follow a few successive steps.

oblique knitting, stages

The first stage - expansion (addition of the canvas)

First you need to provide the desired width of the part that we will knit. If in the traditional way we simply cast on a certain number of loops on one knitting needle (which we previously calculated by determining the knitting density), and by this we reach the width of the product we need, then in this case, the width we need is formed gradually.

The future width of our product is the base of the triangle, which will be obtained when knitting in an “oblique” way.

At the very beginning, we collect three loops on the knitting needles and begin to knit the fabric stockinette stitch(front rows - front loops, purl - purl). In this case, it is necessary to make additions in each front row as follows: after the first edge loop from the loop of the previous row, knit an additional front loop (you can add loops from broaches by knitting them with the front crossed). Make the second addition before the last loop, for this, lift the loop of the previous row and knit it with the front one.

Please note that no additions are made in the purl loops!

The second stage - knitting a straight fabric

After you have cast on a sufficient number of loops at the base of your triangle to ensure the width of your product, continue to knit as follows.

At the beginning of each front row, continue to dial one loop in front of the edge, but at the end of the row, knit two loops together with the wrong loop - edge loop and the noose in front of her.

In this case, one condition must be met - so that the fabric does not shrink along the edge, it is necessary to knit two loops together on the wrong side, weakly enough ...

Left and right details they are knitted in a mirror image: if for the left half at the 2nd stage (knitting a straight fabric) you make additions at the beginning of the row, and at the end of the decrease, then for the right half you make decreases at the beginning of the row, and at the end of the addition.

The third stage is the narrowing of the web

Don't forget that in order to complete the detail, you will gradually need to narrow it down. To do this, it is necessary to gradually reduce the loops of our knitting. Proceed as follows: at the end of each row, knit two loops together with the wrong loop (hem and the loop in front of it). And the remaining two loops, stretch one through the other.

To obtain a neckline at the stage of narrowing the fabric, it is necessary to complete knitting before three loops remain.

Pattern of sweater details (for size 104-110)

Sweater pattern with diagonal stripes

Note. In the process of wearing, it turned out that the neckline could have been made smaller, the collar turned out to be too wide.

Sleeves:

The sleeves are knitted in the usual way, not diagonally.

Knit with a thread in two additions. Cast on 32 sts of Bambino blue, knit in rib 1*1 4 cm (10 rows). Go to knitting with front stitch (facial rows with facial loops, purl rows with purl loops) in the first row evenly add 10 loops (i.e. knit two loops of the front loop from every third loop) \u003d 42 loops. Next, for bevels, increase on both sides (from the second and penultimate loop) in the fourth row 0 times 1 loop, then *in every second and every fourth row 1 loop *, from * repeat 7 times = 70 loops. After 20 cm from the gum, close all the loops.

Assembly

Sew the two halves of the back.

On the lower edge of the shelves and back, cast on the knitting needles and knit with Bambino blue yarn in two additions with an elastic band 1 * 1 4 cm (10 rows), close the loops.

The photo shows that, since the jacket is knitted on an oblique, the details are a little off. But, due to the fluffiness of the yarn, this is not noticeable in the finished product.

Run shoulder seams. Sew sleeves. Sew in the sleeves, complete the side seams.

On the upper edge of the shelves and back, cast on the knitting needles, knit the collar with Bambino blue yarn in two additions with an elastic band 1 * 1 to a height of 4 cm, then knit in the front row with purl loops (for the fold) and again knit 4 cm with an elastic band 1 * 1. Collar fold in half and sew on the wrong side

Since the yarn is fluffy, so that the villi do not fall into the zipper, I knitted small shelves - two rows of single crochets on each half of the front. Unfortunately, the blue yarn ran out, so the shelves had to be knitted with blue yarn.

Sew on a zip lock.

Striped jacket diagonally - oblique knitting

A striped jacket diagonally with knitting needles is ready! In the process of wearing, it turned out that the collar turned out to be too wide. It is necessary either to make the neckline smaller, or to knit the collar higher.

In the description for each model, the schemes and the principle of knitting are described in detail, but it must be borne in mind that there are no two identical women. That is why we recommend changing the model in accordance with its features (figure). The selection contains patterns only with knitting needles, the hook can be found in the crochet blouse catalog.

How to choose yarn for a cardigan

When choosing yarn for a pullover, the first thing you should pay attention to is composition. Choose threads according to the season, cotton and linen for summer models, wool and mohair for rainy autumn and cold winter. Most use a mixture of materials of various combinations, 100% composition of one material is rare. Keep in mind that wool itself is quite scratchy, so in combination with acrylic it will be more pleasant to wear and comfortable to knit sweaters, but it will lose a little of its warm properties.

When planning your budget, take into account the thickness, the thicker the yarn chosen, the more skeins will be required. The length of the thread in the skein is also important, it is always indicated in the description on the label. This indicator may differ from manufacturer to manufacturer, so you may need more threads from the same manufacturer when knitting, despite the similarity of the skein.

Correctly calculate how many threads you need - this is whole science, but it is better to buy with a margin and keep the label, as it may turn out that this particular yarn is no longer on sale. In your opinion, similar threads from the side on the model will be striking, standing out sharply, this is best avoided. You should be more careful when choosing yarn for a sweater, and before buying, turn the edge of the thread in your hands, it is pleasant and whether it suits you.

A few words about knitting needles

There is a direct relationship between the size of the needles, the chosen yarn and the result. The smaller the size, the longer it will take to knit and the work will be more subtle and elegant. Pay attention to the combination of thread thickness and needle size. If you take a thick thread and small knitting needles, the jacket will be denser and, conversely, with a thin thread and larger size free knitting is obtained.

Needle types

In stores you can find metal, plastic and even wood. Metal is the strongest and most durable. The needles also differ in length and thickness. It is important that the needles are smooth, otherwise it will negatively affect the quality. Differ by type:

  • Circular
  • Ordinary
  • hosiery
  • Auxiliary

Circular knitting needles are two knitting needles that are fastened together with a thick fishing line. With their help, it is convenient to knit products across. Used for seamless things.

Regular knitting needles are the most popular, they knit most cardigan sweaters. One end is pointed, the other may have a limiter, this is convenient so that the loops do not sleep.

Stockings are shorter than usual, and are usually sold as a set. Both ends of such knitting needles are sharp and can be used up to 5 pieces at a time. Very comfortable when knitting in the round, so you can make out the neck of the sweater.

Auxiliary ones are needed for knitting a pattern on a model with a knitting pattern, in which the loops must be removed for a while. They can be straight or curved.

Unique, interesting and eye-catching is the striped sweater. Among girls, it is in high demand, because it has special properties: the product is combined with any clothing and allows you to embody various bows.
