Showed how to knit a narrow neck circular needles. When there are no knitting needles with a short fishing line or hosiery at hand, this method helps.

Welcome to my knitting blog! Have you been like this? Knit something in the round. While the detail is wide - everything is fine, no special difficulties arise. But, as it comes to the collar, neck or sleeves, a problem immediately appears. Fishing line on circular needles 80 or 100 cm long immediately begins to interfere. The loops stretch along it, in general, one torment.

I thought that someone might also need one simple way. It allows you to knit small circles on the neck / sleeves with knitting needles with a long fishing line. The method was not invented by me. Perhaps one of you saw it somewhere on the Internet, or, by your own experience, came to it. Well, for those who are new to the method, this mini-MK.

I knit the neck with knitting needles with a long fishing line

Well, this technique was very useful to me once again recently, when knitting a coral jumper. The fact is that on my needle the length of the fishing line is 80 cm. It has reached the neck, the circumference of which is gradually decreasing, becoming shorter.

There was no suitable size of knitting needles at hand, or knitting needles on a short fishing line. Therefore, I continued in this way, which allows me to knit such narrow sections in the round with long circular knitting needles. Photographed in the process, share.

So, I show on the example of my coral jumper. Let's say I now have 118 loops left in my work. The arrow points to the ends of the knitting needles - it is clear that they are clearly too long for knitting such a neck circumference. So, I will use the secret method))

Briefly, what is the essence of the method

The fact is that when knitting the fabric, the fishing line is shortened twice - by stretching the extra length (without cutting). To do this, I divide the number of loops in two to determine the middle and the beginning of the row, where the fishing line will be pulled out.

For example, there are 118 loops left. After the 59th loop, I pull out the fishing line until the loops lie flat on the knitting needles (that is, they are not stretched along the knitting needle, but lie normally, next to each other, freely). As a result, the extra length of the fishing line is released (does not participate in the work) and now you can continue knitting calmly.

When I tie up to the middle, that part of the fishing line that I released before that is again included in the work and begins to interfere. Therefore, I repeat the action with stretching. But, not in the middle of the canvas, because I am in this place now. And, from the opposite edge - that is, at the beginning of the row.

I also pulled out the extra part of the fishing line, and quickly knit the row to the end. And, again, I pull up the forest alternately in the middle and at the beginning of the row. In principle, nothing complicated, the main thing is to get used to pulling the fishing line.

The words seem incomprehensible. But once you try it, it becomes clear what is being done and how.

Shown below are the photos of the process. You can click on one photo and scroll through like a photo album.

My jumper is knitted with raglan sleeves (with a beveled shoulder line). Therefore, 4 markers hang on the jumper, i.e. the loops are evenly divided into four parts. But, as mentioned above, with this method, you just need to halve the number of loops.

Therefore, I do this: I will divide the number of loops in two, i.e. 118:2 = 59 The beginning of the row is marked with marker No. 1. And where the middle, on the 59th loop, hangs marker number 2.

Before starting the next row, after the marker number 2, she pulled out the fishing line, making sure that the loops did not come off from the other end. If you pull sharply, you can throw off knitting from the knitting needle.

At first, the fishing line "goes" with difficulty, the loops in this place are stretched to the sides. But, I immediately squeeze the beginning of the fishing line with two fingers and pull it out. She pulled it out - thereby removing the extra length of fishing line from work. I knit myself calmly half of the product.

This is what knitting looks like. See, I knit a row from right to left, in the direction from marker # 1 to marker # 2, i.e. from the beginning of the row to the middle.

When I tied it up to the second marker, I tightened the fishing line again. But, now from the opposite side, i.e. in the place where the first marker is. I don’t show it in the photo, because everything repeats, as shown above.

Pulling out the fishing line, I knit the row to the end. To knit the next row, I again pull the fishing line in the middle of the neckline, at the second marker.

Having tied up to it, I stop - I pull the fishing line from the other end, at marker No. 1. So I knit to the end. As a result, after cuts, less than 90 sts remained on the neck. But, as you can see, we managed to knit such a narrow neck on a long fishing line. In theory, there is so much extra length on the fishing line.

Conclusions:

This way of knitting a neck on knitting needles with a long fishing line really helps out a lot when you don’t want to knit with stocking knitting needles. For example, I even prefer to knit mittens on two knitting needles)) By the way, look at such mittens. Time is saved, knitted easier and faster than 4!

Of course, there are also factory knitting needles with a short fishing line. But, firstly, I know from experience that you will not find them in every store. Secondly, not all sizes are available.

And so, please, one-time, and slipped through a difficult section)) True, this method is also a bit troublesome. After all, I want, as usual, to quickly walk along the row. And then you have to stop, pull the line.

But once you get used to it, it gets comfortable. I would be glad if someone likes this method and will fit in the work.

Sincerely, Saule Vagapova

I always knit everything on two pairs of circular needles. And I constantly answer the question of how two pairs of knitting needles are used in circular knitting. Here, at last, I have turned up such a moment to demonstrate this clearly. Look at photo number one:

With circular knitting, although it happens continuously, i.e. the transition from one row to another is not felt in any way, it is, nevertheless, there. After all, this is not one endless row located like a snail, in a spiral, but a certain number of separate rows closed in a ring, located one above the other, right?

For clarity, I took different knitting needles. The first pair - the knitting needles are white, the fishing line is golden brown. The second pair - knitting needles are yellow, fishing line is red. Nobody canceled the law of meanness, so the red fishing line matches my knitting in color, but I didn’t find any third color of the fishing line, so you’ll have to make out. But if you enlarge the photo, then, in my opinion, everything is clear.

The first photo shows the moment when one row is fully knitted - all its loops are put on the first pair of knitting needles, with a golden fishing line. The second pair lies nearby, ready. I could not use the second pair, but continue to knit the next row with the same first pair.

But I start knitting the next row with the second pair of knitting needles:

And so I knit it, knit it with a second pair of knitting needles ...

And finally it ends. Now I have all the loops put on the second pair of knitting needles, with a red fishing line. And the first pair, with a golden one, has freed itself and lies nearby.

Now I will start knitting the next row in the same way - with another pair of knitting needles. So they will alternate, each new row is another pair of knitting needles.

What does it give and what is more convenient than doing the same thing on one pair?
Firstly, the stupid and nasty action - moving the needles along the fishing line - becomes much easier, and in general practically disappears.
Secondly, you don’t have to track the moment of transition from one row to another at all - it is automatically indicated by the fact that a pair of knitting needles is released.
Thirdly, it provides greater freedom of the instrument as a whole, which, in turn, does not limit the freedom and continuity of the hand stroke, and this is important for speed and evenness.

In this way, on two pairs of knitting needles with fishing line, I knit objects in the round with a diameter from infinitely large to about the same as in the photo. The minimum object that I will knit in this way is a hat. Everything smaller than it, I knit on five toe knitting needles - otherwise the loss of time and pace for moving the loops along the knitting needles becomes too noticeable.

How to knit a small number of loops on circular needles (mk, video)

As you already know, knitting on circular needles is most convenient for products with a large number of loops. But knit hats, sleeves, etc. details and things does not allow the length of the fishing line. I always thought that it was simply impossible, at one time, I even cut the fishing line with scissors and reattached it to the knitting needles, which turned out to be completely useless, because an overly short fishing line only slows down knitting ... Until I found an American video called "Magic loop".

At first, it seemed to me a mockery, it was so inconvenient, besides, I kept forgetting in what sequence to shift the loops. But after trying a certain number of times, I finally understood the principle and even fell in love with this method of knitting. Now I only knit mittens and hats on circular needles!

How to knit on circular needles a small number of loops

1. Cast on a certain number of stitches on the right needle. Let it be 14 loops as in the photo.

2. Then lower all the loops from the knitting needle onto the fishing line.

3. Divide the loops into two parts exactly in the middle of the fishing line.

4. Now you need to carefully holding the loops with your fingers, pull them onto the knitting needles so that there are 7 loops on each knitting needle. Note that on the right needle we have the first 7 loops, where the beginning of the row with the tail is, and on the left the last 7 loops with the working thread.

6. Now loops from the right knitting needle, i.e. where the working thread is, you need to lower it onto the fishing line as far as possible, closer to the middle of the fishing line.

7. And now you can start knitting the second row. To do this, with a right, free from loops knitting needle, you need to knit 7 loops located on the left knitting needle.

Knitted.

And I am attaching a video on which I myself learned to knit like this.

Well, how do you like it? In my opinion, this method is really magical, as the name suggests. To be honest, I wouldn't have thought of it myself.

It's no secret that 90% of craftswomen prefer to knit their products without subsequent stitching. It is much easier for beginner knitters to learn on straight tools. However, as soon as the craftswoman picks up circular knitting needles and knits her first thing on them, then straight tools will go down in history.

Circular knitting needles are two straight stocking needles, which are connected into a single whole with a cable, thanks to which the craftswoman can knit any product without seams. Like straight knitting needles, circular knitting needles are subdivided depending on the diameter, as well as the length of the cable. Their diameter varies from 1.5 to 30 mm, and the length of the cable ranges from 30 to 300 cm.

As a general rule, short circular needles are best used for knitting baby hats, socks, or sweater necks. On long tools, it is easiest to knit large products, such as a plaid, coat or cardigan. All circular tools are plastic, metal and even bamboo. In the video, the craftswoman shows how to start knitting on metal stocking needles.

Video: The process of knitting in a circle

Most often, needlewomen prefer to work with metal tools, however, some things are easier to make using plastic or bamboo, for example, with thick yarn, as in the photo below, it is easiest to do with large diameter bamboo knitting needles.

In order for circular knitting to bring only joy, when choosing a tool, pay attention to the following points:

  • rope quality. For better sliding of loops during knitting, it is necessary to choose tools with a flexible and light cable;
  • transition from a cable to a knitting needle. In order for knitting in a circle to bring only joy and pleasure, it is necessary to pay special attention to the junction of the cable and knitting needles. There should not be any notches in this area, and the connection angle should be obtuse.

What are the advantages of special knitting needles:

How to start knitting

In order to properly start working in a circle, follow these steps:

  • First, type on the knitting needles the required number of loops. You can cast on loops immediately on circular tools, or you can first cast on straight stocking needles of the same size, and then transfer them to circular ones;
  • then you need to distribute all the dialed loops along the entire length of the cable. Before knitting patterns, you should make sure that all loops look in the same direction;
  • V right hand the knitter should have a stocking needle with the last loop cast on, in the left hand, respectively, is located with the initial loops. In order not to make a mistake and correctly connect all the loops in a circle, mark the first loop with a marker;
  • we knit the marked loop together with the last loop, and then we continue knitting in the round, in accordance with the scheme.

The video below clearly shows the whole process of the correct set of loops and their closure in a circle. Any craftswoman knows how difficult it can be to knit some large thing, for example, quite long and durable tools are needed to knit a bedspread or coat. Special knitting needles with a fishing line can greatly facilitate the life of a craftswoman, because knitted products, even very large ones, do not need to be sewn, they are easier and easier to hold while knitting, and the knitted fabric itself turns out to be much neater and smoother.

Video: Circular knitting for beginners

Beautiful napkins, fashionable hats, luxurious tablecloths... All these products can be knitted with simple tools: needlework hooks and threads. Creating original and, at first glance, incredibly difficult work is actually not difficult at all. The secret of mastery lies in mastering the technique of knitting several figures, familiar to most from geometry lessons. The circle is one of the most common among them. You can learn a beginner thanks to this small master class. Just enough to do simple rules described below.

How to start crocheting a circle

There are two main ways to crochet a base circle:

  1. Knit a circle, starting with one loop.
  2. Knit a circle, starting with a chain consisting of several loops.

Thread ring with knitting needles

The first option is better suited if you need to create a product about round shape no hole in the center. For example, at . To achieve the desired result, you must follow the instructions below step by step.

  1. We make a loop from the working thread, while leaving the tip about twenty millimeters long.
  2. We put the hook into this loop, grab the main thread, pulling it through the loop (but not tightening it).
  3. Again we put the tool into the loop and thread the main thread through it and through the loop that was tied in the previous step to get a connecting post as a result. Do not forget to squeeze the junction of the threads of the first loop, otherwise your creation can easily bloom.
  4. We make a few more, pulling the thread through the circle folded at the beginning, in the same way.
  5. Having finished the first row, carefully pull the tip of the thread that was originally left so that the hole that remains in the middle becomes invisible.

The second version of crocheting a circle is also quite simple in execution and is suitable for products where a hole in the center is an indispensable element in the composition. For more visibility step by step instructions supplemented with diagrams for beginners (see photo below):

  1. Making a chain of the right number loops, for example from four.
  2. We put the hook into the initial loop of the chain and pass the working thread through it.
  3. We stretch the resulting loop through the last loop from the chain made. The result should be a ring, the future basis for all work.
  4. We knit the required number of columns (without throwing) for the resulting ring (by the way, they can be done in two ways: in the ring itself and in its loops).

Instructions for knitting in a circle

Although when crocheting in a circle, you can use different types columns and half-columns (both double crochet and single crochet), that is, the scope for imagination is unlimited, we must not forget about observing essential rules to help you make a great knitted product with your own hands:

  • Needlework should be started and finished in the same way around the circumference, namely: at the beginning of work, you will definitely have to throw in several lifting loops so that at the end you can knit half-columns from the last column into the first column to connect the beginning and end of work.
  • Remember the usefulness of auxiliary materials: use pins or threads of various colors to mark the first loops of each row (this will help you quickly and accurately find them).
  • Be careful when distributing the posts around the perimeter: they should be evenly spaced.
  • Follow the diagrams in the process of your creation.
  • If the product uses single crochets, be sure to start knitting with three columns, and in the new chain their sum doubles (in the end, you should get six loops). In the future, the canvas must be divided into six parts. In subsequent rows, the number of loops will increase by one for each of the shares, as a result, six loops are added to each line of the entire product (see diagram below).

Diagram of a circle of 6 loops

If the product should have double crochets, knitting in a circle with knitting needles begins with six single crochets or six loops. In the new row, the amount of loops is doubled, that is, the output is already twelve. Accordingly, further knitting must be divided into twelve parts. In the following lines, the number of loops will also increase by one for each of the parts, so twelve loops are gradually added in the rows of the product.

Knitting pattern for a circle of 12 loops

A detailed plan and pattern for knitting in a circle with a crochet is shown below:

  • If you want to a large number of columns with a cast, as with, then four more loops should be added in each new row than in the previous one. For example, if there are two crochets in the initial column, then in each next row their number is added by sixteen loops, three - by twenty, and then by analogy.
  • If you need to knit a round-shaped product with half-columns (also with a throw), then eight loops are added to the next row. For example, if the first circle contains four loops, then the second will consist of eight. Next, the circle is divided into eight shares, and at the beginning of each of these parts you need to knit one half-column with a crochet.
