Without patience, one cannot raise a child, one cannot master a profession, one cannot overcome material and moral difficulties. Finally, he does not comprehend the path traveled. If patience is understood only as humility with injustice, insults, losses, then there is no hope that a person can become stronger, smarter, more far-sighted. If all the troubles, tragedies, sad events that occurred in the personal and family life and the life of the country, perceived as the result of patience, then this is a direct path to resentment to the whole world.

Common sense, the experience of many generations tells us: there are situations when tolerance becomes connivance for slovenliness, laziness, criminal inactivity. In situations that require decisiveness, one must act decisively, speak, demand. In the most extreme cases, even on their knees, this is what mothers ask for their children.

Between patience and tolerance

I foresee the question, it is natural: why, for what do good, innocent people suffer? Why do they find themselves so often dependent on other, negligent or simply lazy "specialists"? Alas, this can only be partially explained: human nature itself is imperfect. But to justify a specific non-performance official duties I guess not. It is our civil right to make statements and complaints, to publicize the facts, to talk about what is really happening.

And still it is necessary to tell about one our human phenomenon. People are often ready to cover up the worst deed of a petty official, so as not to ruin relations "for the future." This is not patience, but cover-up. This is a guarantee that a person who commits, for example, official violations, will repeat them and will believe in his impunity.

"How are you still alive?!"

… My mother took care of her husband, my father, for eighteen years. He was an invalid of the first group. Doctors sometimes did not hide their surprise: how, is he still alive ?! And they often told my mother that she knows as well as any doctor what drugs and in what dosages to administer in cases of complications. My mom, simple woman, in cases of need, she boldly went to the heads of the polyclinic, to the head doctors, received referrals for her father for examinations at the republican hospital. By God's grace and mother's care, the father lived to be 74 years old and died peacefully, in a clear state, waiting for his mother to come to his ward.

I can only guess how much patience it took in the life of my grandmother, who gave birth to twelve children. But I remember her not grumbling, but all the time at work - sewing, cooking dinner, writing letters to numerous relatives.

It seems to me that there is a very productive, very promising point of view on most problematic situations: if a problem has arisen before me, before my family, and it inevitably has to be solved, then it must be ... solved. This, at a minimum, means that a person turns on his internal previously unused (perhaps unknown to him before) resources. As they say, we turn on the head! We determine how, with whom, in what sequence we will act.

From patience - experience, from experience - hope

An active, persistent person causes not only respect (“wow, what a character!”). He has more allies, those who are willing and able to help. It is treated more attentively in bureaucratic offices, in hospitals, in transport, in housing and communal services, and so on.

For people who draw spiritual knowledge from the Scriptures, wise words are known that must be memorized from childhood: "From patience - experience, from experience - hope." (The Epistle to the Romans, ch. 5, verse 4). Muslims are well aware that sabr (patience - Arabic) is half of religion. Without patience it is impossible to delve into the essence of life, religion, professional knowledge, to understand other people and ... oneself.

Learning patience means acquiring new character traits - steadfastness, consistency, the ability to navigate in new circumstances. That is, the psychophysiological characteristics of a person change, the structure of his personality is updated. Gaining new experience, we really gain confidence that we can cope with many problems. Think about it: confidence is the foundation of hope. I know that the Almighty sees the intentions and efforts of everyone. I will accept what is destined for me." That's how different patience can be!

For many years, my dacha neighbor was modest, hardworking Valentina. Leaving the porch on a summer morning, I already saw her on the site. She usually covered her head with a white scarf so that the sun would not burn so much, and she hurried to dig, plant, weed. Then the troublemaker went to cook dinner, take care of her dear mother, who lived for 92 years.
