How we relax in 2018: May holidays, two-day work week and June weekend

The Russians, as you know, are not averse to relaxing, and the beginning May, and June they will provide such an opportunity, which is especially pleasant in connection with the protracted winter - in late spring and early summer the weather will obviously be better than now. In this regard, the Federal Service for Labor and Employment (Rostrud) recalled which days, according to the government decree, will become additional days off in May and June 2018.

Recall that earlier the commission for the regulation of social and labor relations supported the draft resolution of the Russian government on the postponement of holidays in 2018. In this regard, the Russians, in particular, formed quite decent May holidays, as well as small additional "vacations" in June and November.

How to relax on May holidays 2018

The beginning of the summer season will turn out very well for the Russians - in connection with May Day (Spring and Labor Day) we are waiting four day vacation and a purely symbolic two-day work week.

Recall that Saturday, April 28 is a working day, although shortened by an hour. The Russians will start resting on Sunday, April 29, and will continue on Monday, April 30, as well as on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 1 and 2.

Thursday and Friday 3 and 4 May will be working days, and Saturday and Sunday May 5 and 6- weekend again.

It will also be a day off Victory Day May 9 (Wednesday), and on the Tuesday preceding the holiday, May 8, the working day will be reduced by an hour.

Recall that the May Day holidays turned out to be four days in connection with the transfer of the day off from Saturday, April 28, to Monday, April 30; and the rest on May 2 was formed due to the “saved” holiday on New Year's holidays on January 7, which fell on Sunday.

"Vacations" on the Day of Russia

On Russia Day, which is celebrated on June 12, Russians are also waiting for small, but such a pleasant summer vacation. Saturday, June 9, will be working, albeit shortened by an hour, but Sunday 10 June to Tuesday 12 June inclusive, it will be possible to relax, including in the country.

National Unity Day - additional day off

Autumn Day national unity (which falls on November 4) will also be celebrated for three days - Friday, November 3rd through Monday, November 5th inclusive.

And there and New Year , which will give the Russians a traditional ten-day vacation.

It should be noted that our country is the leader in the number of paid non-working days, which accumulate as much as forty per year. These 40 days are made up of 12 public holidays and 28 days of paid leave. In Russia, by the way, one of the longest paid holidays in the world is longer - only in Brazil, where they officially rest for 30 days (not counting the holidays, which, however, are fewer there than in Russia).

In 2019, the May holidays were extremely unfortunate, and many Russians are interested in how we still relax in May, and also whether there will be a “long weekend” this year.

For most people, the May holidays are associated with the first trips to nature, exciting trips to the south coast and, of course, a kind of mini-vacations or mini-vacations that the Government often gives us. We propose to figure out how we will celebrate May 1 and 9 in 2019, and which days will be officially declared days off.

May holidays in the production calendar

The main document regulating the schedule of work and rest of Russians is the production calendar. On this moment a draft calendar for 2019 was approved, which clearly states that for the May holidays we will not only get a “long weekend”, but will also be able to rest twice in May:

Thus, out of 31 calendar days in May, we will have only 18 working days, including one shortened (05/08/19) and as many as 13 days off. Such a gift from the Government will definitely cheer up everyone, because what could be better than a fun holiday in May or an exciting trip in the spring of 2019.

Such a wonderful work schedule in May was formed thanks to the thoughtful transfer of weekends from January holidays(01/05/19 and 01/06/19), as well as the vacated additional day off for February 23, which this year falls on Saturday.

So, in order to answer the question of how we relax on the May holidays in the coming 2019, just look at the official weekend calendar:

How schoolchildren and students relax in May

The production calendar is relevant for all organizations working on a 5-day work week. This means that in 2019 schools, lyceums, gymnasiums, universities and others will have a “long weekend” for the May holidays. educational institutions with a “five-day period”, and those who study according to the report card on Saturday will be able to relax only on official weekends (check with the administration for a schedule).

For most kids and teens, 9 days off is a great gift at the end of the school year!

But, for students of the 9th and 11th grades, who will have to take the GIA in the coming days, such a long break in preparation is not recommended. Parents of graduates should not plan long trips for this period. It is better to devote the holidays freed up in May 2019 to preparing for the next exam.

Where and how you can spend the May holidays

For most Russians, a long weekend is a great opportunity to go out of town, visit friends and relatives living in other regions and just relax, because these days in May 2019, festive events will be held in almost all cities.

How to celebrate May 1st

The format of the holiday largely depends on the geographical location of the venue. If in the southern latitudes of Russia at the beginning of May the weather is already warm as in summer, then closer to the northern regions the weather may still not be conducive to picnics and out-of-town walks.

You can find out what the weather is supposed to be like in the spring of 2019 in your city or region in the advisory section of our website. In the central and southern latitudes, this day is traditionally held "May Day" with barbecue, as well as riding bicycles, boats, ATVs or horses.

If the weather in your city is not conducive to such a holiday, you can arrange an original theme party. By the way, it is on the night of May 1 that Walpurgis Night takes place. Why not a theme for a creative costume party?

You can also remember how the holidays were celebrated in May once, and arrange today in 2019 a classic “May Day” with traditional attributes.

How to celebrate May 9

Victory Day traditionally gathers everyone for the parade. Knowing how we relax in May 2019, you can plan a trip to a beautiful parade at any Big city, visiting museums and places of military glory.

Important! Do not try to get to Red Square. Only those who have invitation cards will be able to watch the main parade of the country, and this is a rather small circle of people, which is more than problematic to get into.

But to see everything that happens on TV, on the Internet, or on one of the large screens installed in the central squares of cities - anyone can easily.

A variety of entertainment for residents of megacities is interesting and wonderful. But, many residents of Russia are looking forward to the May holidays of 2019, dreaming of an exciting journey.

In May, the most popular holiday destinations are:

  • coasts of the Black and Azov seas;
  • accessible European countries (Montenegro, Bulgaria);
  • tourist Europe (France, Italy, Greece);
  • Turkey and UAE;
  • Israel and Jordan;
  • exotic countries.

Where exactly it is better to relax on the May holidays, and what the weather will be like on the official weekend of 2019 in different cities of Russia, you can find out in the relevant sections of our website.

Time is the main value for every person, because extremely much in our life depends on how well we can manage it.

Some people live in a constant hurry, trying to do everything and everywhere, while others, on the contrary, go with the flow, leaving their fate to chance.

And if we can distribute the hours of our leisure ourselves, then a special calendar is always ready to prompt us for working time.

Why do you need a production calendar

A working or production calendar is an official document developed and approved by the government, which clearly indicates the number of working days, weekends and holidays.

With its help, all enterprises in the country plan their production schedules, set standards for working time and pay salaries to the team. It is according to this decree that the estimated production rates for the year, quarter and even month are calculated.

The working time calendar is considered an indispensable tool for the work of accounting departments, personnel departments, heads of departments, as well as management. Company specialists, based on the data presented in it, organize their work.

According to its indicators, the norms of hours worked are evicted, which, as you know, is the main indicator for calculating salaries and bonuses to personnel.

In addition, this document forms the basis for planning the vacation schedule, since holidays, non-working and shortened days are clearly distinguished there, and you can easily calculate the most convenient vacation period for each individual employee.

A draft of such a document is developed every year by a special government commission, taking into account all the subtleties of the coming year.

When forming it, everything is taken into account, from floating religious holidays to possible coincidences of calendar days off with solemn non-working days.

After the completion of the collection and analysis of information by the working group, the calendar is submitted for approval to the Cabinet of Ministers, where it is approved after the final study.

This happens, as a rule, at the end of the first quarter of the previous year, but there are cases when, due to the many changes made, the document remains without a certifying signature until the middle of the second quarter.

Production calendar forms

If we talk about 2019, then the government has not changed the officially established requirements for acceptable document formats, so the calendar will, as before, be available to the reader in two versions: paper (classic) and digital (electronic).

According to the position of officials, both of these forms are considered to be completely equivalent and business leaders will be able to decide for themselves which one to use.

At its core, the work calendar is a visualization of some of the laws governing labor relations in our country. It reflects the constitutional right to work and rest of every citizen and regulates the relationship between the employee and the employer.

Fixed labor standards

Each person, signing an employment contract with an enterprise, undertakes to perform professional duties for a clearly limited amount of working time.

As a rule, this norm does not exceed 8 hours per day, although there are some exceptions for certain specialties and types of employment. This indicator underlies the working calendar and acts as the main coefficient for calculating the intensity of the worker's work.

Since wages are calculated on a monthly basis, according to the generally accepted system for calculating working hours, actual standard hours are compared with nominal ones for the corresponding period. This parameter determines the production schedule, and, consequently, the employment of the staff.

According to the approved edition of the production year, employed people working in the format of a 40-hour work week will perform their professional duties for 2088 hours, 36-hour - 1879, and 24-hour - 1252.

In total, 116 of the future 365 calendar days will become days off for our citizens. Only 249 will have to work hard, and then 6 of them will be reduced by an hour. Although it should be noted that this schedule is relevant only for a five-day work week.

Weekends and holidays in 2019

The working calendar for 2019 includes a significant number of non-working days. Most of them will be calendar days off and only 17 - holidays.

These are significant state dates, as well as professional and religious events, which, according to the current legislation, are celebrated at the official level.

Among the celebrations during which employees of most institutions are released from their labor duties are: New Year, Christmas time, March 8, Defender of the Fatherland Day, May Day, Victory Day, National Unity Day and Russia Day.

In connection with these events, employees of enterprises of all forms of ownership will be given long days off.

The longest vacation, people will traditionally get in January. Such a distribution will allow you to better organize your leisure time or even poison yourself on a short trip.

Long weekend:

  • December 30 - January 8 (New Year holidays)
  • March 8 - March 10 (International Women's Day)
  • May 1 - May 5 (Spring and Labor Day)
  • May 9 - May 12 (Victory Day)
  • November 2 - November 4 (National Unity Day)

Shortened working days and postponement of holidays

Due to the fact that some solemn events fall on or close to official holidays, the government decided to make several long periods of rest.

Such, for example, await us in January during the celebration of Christmas time and in the spring at the beginning of May, when the whole country celebrates the triumph of spring and labor. But such generosity of officials is absolutely not gratuitous, and the missed hours still have to be worked off.

A great gift for all workers was the new edition of the Labor Code. Now, according to the updated rules, some pre-solemn days will be reduced by one hour.

So, for example, it has already been entered in the production calendar that on February 22 (Friday), March 7 (Thursday), April 30 (Tuesday), May 2 (Wednesday), June 11 (Tuesday) and December 31 (Tuesday), personnel will be able to leave their jobs a little earlier.

The following holidays have been postponed:

  • January 5 (Saturday) to May 2 (Thursday)
  • January 6 (Sunday) to May 3 (Friday)
  • February 23 (Saturday) to May 10 (Friday)

What to expect from the new production calendar

The production one will differ little from its previous editions. The main changes will affect only the arrangement of non-working days according to the time of the onset of solemn dates, the transfer of working days to organize long days off and conduct the practice of a shortened day

According to experts, the new document will be socially oriented and will take into account the interests of the state, entrepreneurs and ordinary people.

Thanks to a competent combination of holidays and calendar days off, the population will be able to organize a longer vacation, because several races a year, in addition to simple weekends, workers receive small vacations in the form of 3-4 non-working days.

Also, the government, despite the many calls from officials to cancel the winter holidays, kept the Christmas holidays. This means that in 2019 there will be enough time for both work and leisure.
